Decided to put my thoughts on the 5 guys, plus the Game, in separate posts. I didn't think I would type this much. D:

Jieun's the first route I played in Dandelion -Wishes brought to you-. He's the small, white rabbit.

Notice at the site: https://dl.cheritz.com/en/news/view_notice/38

I can't believe that I won a mouse pad. I'm so happy! I wonder which mouse pad is it going to be? Aren't they all sold out? Now I have to wait patiently for 2 weeks for it to arrive. *sits near mailbox*

Though, I really wanted the Christmas CD the most because I need to know what happens after the endings of all the guys, even the Wizard!!!! I probably will just give in and buy it despite the shipping cost costing the same as the CDs. Boohoo. I did emailed them if I can combine the free mouse pad with the purchased Christmas CD to lessen the shipping cost. I would totally give in if I can.

Congrats to everyone else who won! I've been lurking around some Tumblrs, and saw that some of them won, too.

You know, this brightened my day up after learning that my younger brother is in the hospital with a collapsed lung. (I hope he comes home before the end of 2012.) I saw the Facebook post first, after visiting my brother. Then saw that people got an email through Tumblr users. :3

The title screen

I already did a mini-review a week ago just in case I take too long to complete the game, and I wanted to express my thoughts and feelings after my first route. But this time, after getting all the good endings, and unlocking the extra scene, I really do have the urge to review this game.

Dandelion - Wishes brought to you - is a really amazing game. It tugs at your heart, makes you emotional, gets you attached to the characters (including the heroine!) and it shows that you can't always have a happily ever after ending (because that is not reality). Despite the strange setup with animals turning into humans, and them being from a separate world, the routes do seem realistic

Lots of spoilers under the cut...Collapse )

And that's my review / analysis of Dandelion. I highly recommend this game to any otome game / visual novel fans out there. For the price, the game is worth it because of the graphics, the sound, the voices, the high replay-value, and the whole entire story. It may not be for the weak-hearted because it is quite heart-wrenching in many of the routes. I'm sure once you played it the whole game, you will never forget the journey you took and the emotions you felt.

So, go to the site and try the demo if you haven't. And if you have already played Dandelion, try completing it 100% (which I still haven't done because I need to make time and to brace myself for the bad endings).

Thanks for reading my review of Dandelion and I hope for those that for those who still haven't tried the game out, have a better understanding of how great this game is. And for those who have played the game, I hope you enjoyed reading my analysis of the characters and story. ^_^

The title screen

Ever since I saw the demo a this tumblr, and played the demo (twice - got bad end the first time), I was waiting for this game to be released. I was in school waiting for my classes to start on Nov 30, 2012 when I saw it out. Of course, I had the end of semester stuff to do AND my finals, so I had to postpone this game later. But then after my exams, I was in the middle of other otome games like Heartstring Bugs, My Sweet Bodyguard, Be My Princess and Love Letter from Thief X. :P

But then, two days ago, I finally started to play this game. But before starting it, I surfed around about this game to see people's thoughts. And boy, lots of feels and some funny scenes. Plus, it was difficult to get a good end. So I made sure to read some tips and prepared myself mentally.

Dandelion -Wishes Brought to You- is a Korean, otome game made with Ren'py by Cheritz. It's also a stat-raiser, but they handled it very well.
The site is a http://dl.cheritz.com/en/home

The story Heejung Kim, the main character who we are controlling, is living by herself after moving away from her mom's house, hoping to get away from all the expectations/nagging of her mom and become independent. It's been 3 years now, and she still doesn't know what she's doing with her life. University graduation is near. One day, after she wakes up, she finds a basket with 3 rabbits and 2 cats next to her bed. After deciding to take care of them, her life seems more brighter and less lonely.

Of course, things don't go normally in these otome games, if you get one of the pets to like you (have hearts), everyone turn into human (males, of course)! Heejung has a lot of crazy things going on her life, on top of her busy life style. Now it's time for you to help Heejung find what is missing in her life and become happy! Of course, with the help of her new friends. And of course, get to know the the 5 mysterious guys and maybe help one and fall in love.

Yeah, I'm kind of bad of summarizing the game without spoilering too much. I really suggest playing the demo if you haven't. Giving it a try doesn't harm you.

I don't really want to tell you how to play the game or what happens in the game; you can find that out at the site or do a Google search, but I will tell you about my thoughts on the game. Keep in mind, I've only played one path, and that's Jieun's good ending.

The game is somewhat similar to Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side, where you raise stats, go on dates and interact with the guy of your choice. The game spans one year. What I like about the gameplay is that it's fresh and doesn't go stale too fast. Even when choosing an activity to raise stats, you can bump into one of the guys and interact with them to raise their affection for Heejung. Plus, each activity have Heejung's narration and there are a lot of things she can say for each activity. Plus, the things the guys' say changes the stronger the feelings they have for her. As well as, the dates at the different date spots. Sometimes I just reload just to see another reaction. :)

To me, the game wasn't hard at all. But maybe I'm just used to stat-raisers. I suggest leveling up Heejung's pressure and stress stats so she doesn't get pressured/stressed as much. Also, quick-save and quick-load helps a lot if you want to bump into a guy and successfully interact/talk/rub/gift him. Also, go for one guy only, or else you will get a bad end. Don't get hearts with other guys. An exception, I read, is Jieun and Jihae, since they are close. For Jieun's route, I had 1 heart for Jihae. But Jieun doesn't have any bad ends, so I'm not sure if it was necessary. That's just what I read. Anyway, raising Heejung stats to meet the guys' requirements wasn't hard at all. After the common route, my stats were also above everyone's requirements. Even increasing their affection for Heejung is easy once you understand what to do when meeting them when doing activities. Dates help, too.

Oh yeah. The stamps you get when you look around during dates are for the concept art stuff in the Special section of the title screen. I suggest getting the eye medicine thing at the store for $200 to raise Heejung's sight so you can see more. 1.2 was the max, I think. I over bought and over collected the Jieun's stamps since you only need 30, and I got over 50. Whoops!

What makes the game fresh as you play it are the cutscenes. There are a lot of them for each character. Whenever the loading screen appears, I just take my hand away from my mouse because... well, I don't know. It was exciting to see these cutscenes. Getting to know the guys and Heejung is always interesting. There are many CGs for each character, and cutscenes, but only after you complete the ending do you get to view the CGs in the Extra section of the title screen. Same for the art in the Special section.

The artwork is really pretty, too. I'm not much of an art-buff like Heejung, but I can tell they are high quality. The music fits nicely with the game, too. And the voice acting was of high quality, too. Even though I don't know any Korean, it was nice to hear them talk because it adds life into the characters. The voice acting happens during cutscenes, though, not day-to-day interaction. But that's fine. There are tons of cutscenes. The design of the guys are otherworldly. It took me some time to get use to them, and I still don't think I'm used to Jieun's design despite me going through his path. But I don't think that's a bad thing. They are unique characters after all. Heejung is the only one that looks plain. I guess so we can associate with her. Though, I think she is pretty. *o* She's around the same age as me, too, so I really can associate with her. All the pressure, expectations, nagging, and not sure what to do in life. Heejung is a strong girl, despite everything that has happened to her. She's amazing.

I went on a tangent there. Hehe.

Anyway, even though I played one route, I had a lot of fun so far, and this game is definitely worth my $30~. Though, the Christmas drama CD seems too expensive when I add $20+ shipping, making it around $40 for 2 CDs. (I can't seem to part that much money just for CDs D:) I recommend this game if you are into otome games like me. Support the otome community and play it.

It's like the 2nd Korean game I've played (1st is Star Project). I'm happy to try out even more Korean games in the future if they suit my tastes. :)

I've been playing otome games for around 2+ years now, even before I met my boyfriend, and I still play them. Probably even more now, since there are so many now. I've been on the lookout for new ones and been playing way more recently now. I have folders and bookmarks to otome games and lists to otome games. It might be a bad habit of mine to play so many of these games, though I don't play them to fill my lonely heart, I just play them because I find them fun and interesting. I've always liked games with good stories and good characters, after all. The Ace Attorney series fits that description, and the reason why I met my boyfriend. <3

One of the sites that I use to find otome games is this one: http://englishotomegames.tumblr.com/
The owner post up new otome games and have a list of them, with indication of what platform you can play them on. I found out many of my otome games because of that site.

Since now I have an Android phone (I think it's been half a year since I got it), I have access to many mobile otome games. Though, I think the iPhone have more. Anyway, I try to limit how much I spend on those games, since it's so easy to overspend. x.X Voltages games are $3.99 per character for 15 chapters and it adds up. Plus their spin-offs, epilogues and sequels. D: And Gree coins are addicting to buy because it's used for so many things in their games. Not only that, I spend every day playing Gree's games because I need to use my character's energy and get gacha points. Plus, only 5 love passes a day. It's quite a time waster. Though, I am planning to complete everyone's best ending in Gree's games.

Android Games I've played
Be My Princess for Gree completed Keith's secret normal end, Glenn's secret happy end, and almost done Wilfred's secret happy end - I'm Alice~ in the game)
My Sweet Bodyguard for Gree completed Kaiji's secret happy end, started Mizuki's route - also Alice~ in the game)
In Your Arms Tonight played Shohei Aiba's happy end)
My Forged Wedding played Ren's and Yuta's happy ends)
Love Letter from Theif X just played Takuto's happy end)

I wanted to play Be My Princess non-Gree version, but the app doesn't even open, despite following the steps Voltage gave me to get it to work. *sighs* I got really attached to all the princes in Be My Princess, so I really want to play their stories.
About the other Voltage games or NTT Soltage games, I might play them, but I have to refrain. My monies~ Though NTT Soltage have 40% off in their Shall We Date? games.

But Android games are really new to me. I've started with otome games with Harvest Moon, you know? And then started playing PC otome games and found out about the DS ones. I have previous entries about my interest in otome games. If you want to find the links to any of the games below, a Google search would do you good. :) There's just too many games to link to. :P

Very late at night, I finished Onii-chan's happy ending.

Just a quick summary about Takashi, Hitomi's older brother. I think he is already finished university or is still in university. He is the manger of the apartment that he and Hitomi live, and sometimes help his dad with his business. He has this major sister complex, and worries about Hitomi constantly. He was one of the causes of Hitomi getting fat because he always tells her that she looks so cute and happy when she eats desserts. He has pretty much taken care of Hitomi ever since they were young, though I think their mom and dad also took care of them. He's also a good cook, good-looking, and really smart.

Note: Onii-chan's brother end will only be available after you completed one playthrough. And Onii-chan's happy end will only be available after you completed his brother end. So basically, you have to complete his route twice.

Here's my post of the brother route if you haven't read it already: http://sandy-ham.livejournal.com/1952.html

Make sure you ignore everyone else to stay on Onii-chan's route. I made a mistake during my attempt on getting his brother end, when I gave Souta a birthday gift. So try not to buy anyone a gift, or walk home with them, or ask them on a date, or buy any of their SD or items from Yaminabe that only opens on the first Sunday of each month. If anyone else have affection for Hitomi, you can say goodbye to Onii-chan's events.

Hitomi is still a little selfish and spoiled through this route. However, through this route, you will be missing a chunk of CGs that you get in the brother route.

Since my last few entries I have been writing out what happens in the routes, I will do that here, too. This is a compilation of both happy and brother routes, since they are really similar.

Read more...Collapse )

All I have left is Ren Ichinose, the No.1 ranked guy, who is also quite mean from what I can tell. Then, I will have to replay some routes to get 100%. :P Busy, busy. I'm really having fun playing this game and learning about each guy and even Hitomi. Each route is totally different, though the gameplay is the same. I'm gonna be sad once I complete this game. ;_;

8 down, 1 to go. Though, I still have to go through Onii-chan's happy ending, so make that 7.5 down, 1.5 to go.

Kaede Tokita's route is now completed. I even got all the email messages, too, though I did miss a single diet item. >.> Got to go back and get it somehow.

Anyway, Kaede Tokita is the mysterious transfer student who is in the same class, same year as Hitomi. Hitomi meets him during a couple of weeks after the beginning of the school year. He wears glasses, has long hair, and loves to read. At first, I thought he was a girl. Just reading the manga, it was difficult to tell that he was a guy. Hitomi describes his face as beautiful when she first sees him. Anyway, before she even meets Tokita, she meets Roland, Tokita's uncle, who is a fortune teller. He even read her fortune saying that she will find the person she is destined to be with this year. He doesn't know if she has met him or not, but she have to work hard to make him love her. Yeah... That is what the game is all about. Making a guy love her by dieting and spending time with him. :P

The thing is, Tokita and Yurika (the beautiful, popular girl that have many guy fans) seem to be really close and they seem to spend a lot of time together. They even sit next to each other in class. Yurika, as you may or may not know, always make fun of Hitomi throughout the year, mostly about her weight. But in this route, well, if you see Tokita, you will most likely see Yurika, and that means lots of bullying. >.>

Anyway, only Ren Ichinose is left. I haven't even touched his route. I never even raised his heart to green, so I never got any of his CGs or email messages. I wanted to play his route with a clean slate. But I also want to do Onii-chan's happy ending... choices, choices.

Long post! Sorry. His route impacted me very strongly, so I wanted to type a lot.

Before I started playing Ayato's route, I knew that he is sickly. He does mention it while I was going through other routes. So I thought I knew what I was gonna experience in his route. Boy, was I wrong. You must be mentally prepared while going through his route if you're anything like me.

Read more...Collapse )

But since I'm done Ayato Kamishiro's route, it's back to doing the non-No.5 guys. Either Kaede Tokita or the happy end of Onii-chan's. And I already decided to go do Tokita's. It seems like the No.5 guys have really sad/painful stories, and Hitomi's role is to give them courage, hope and a shoulder to lean on. While the non-No.5 guys have non-dramatic stories, and their routes are mostly about the relationship between him and Hitomi. But I think Tokita's would be a part of the No.5 criteria.

But anyway, two more guys to complete, plus Onii-chan's happy route. Oh yeah. I also got the pretty end, but not the model epilogue end. Someone said it's because I need to see the bad solo ending first. :P

Another day, another route completed.

I wasn't very impressed with sensei when Hitomi first introduces him to us, since he doesn't act like a teacher at all, though he is good at taking care of people (he cooks, too). He smokes in the infirmary, drinks alcohol, comes to work with a hangover, and doesn't seem too motivated to do his job. But I was curious how the the teacher route is like in this game. Would it be like Himuro-sensei from TMGS1 or Wakaouki-sensei from TMGS2? Well, neither.
